The quick model is API, \u201cI ask or execute\u201d; webhook, \u201cthe system notifies me\u201d; RPA, \u201csoftware operates the screen.\u201d Files, databases, queues, and messaging services are other integration surfaces. Choose by available access, frequency, reliability, and maintenance cost.<\/p>\n

API: request an operation through a contract<\/h2>\n

An API can retrieve a customer, create an order, or change a status through a documented interface. Representational State Transfer (REST) over HTTP is common but not the only form. Examine authentication, permissions, rate limits, versions, error handling, and the meaning of each operation. An HTTP 200 response does not by itself prove a business order finished correctly.<\/p>\n

Repeated requests can create duplicate effects unless retry behavior is designed. Idempotency\u2014retrying without multiplying the intended effect\u2014matters for payments, orders, and account creation. Record a request identifier and the result that was returned.<\/p>\n

Queues, files, databases, and RPA<\/h2>\n
